Ultralight New School Radical Surf
Camille Juban used the Superlight CATALYST ULTRA to dominate in the light
wind down-the-line Pacasmayo surf and win last years PWA/IWT Peru event! The
2026 CATALYST ULTRA’s development goal is to make the lightest and strongest
high performance 3-batten wavesail possible and the results speak for themselves.
The CATALYST ULTRA reduces weight to incredible new levels. At only 85g/
square meter and featuring a 100% Dyneema™ (High Modulus Polyethylene,
world’s strongest fiber) woven core, S2Maui’s ULTRA-HMPE™ laminate is the
absolute lightest and most tear resistant sail cloth currently available for windsurf
sail construction. The 2026 model has evolved to be even lighter, more responsive
and more durable incorporating 2 exciting new materials, Carbon 2XD™ in the
clew and the extra-durable ULTRA-HMPE™ ”Hot Yellow” in the foot panel. The
ULTRA-HMPE™ material is warp oriented and load aligned with S2Maui’s WARPPATH
™ panel layout ensuring perfect tension distribution and a stable profile. To
ensure long-term durability, we use an X-ply rather than film window. On the water,
the performance sensation of the CATALYST ULTRA is mind-blowing. It retains all
the agile, responsive handling, stability, power and drive that make the CATALYST
a champion’s sail, but with the incredible, “lighter than light” weight it virtually
disappears in your hands while surfing the wave.
